I don't know about you, but I like to enjoy my sons, especially if they are obedient good children like in the big book. Now these are rare moments, I mean obedient good children, because they are really true boys. They try their best, but it's always the brother who starts the naughtiness, and the other has to get involved. I love them very much, but it's a bit harder to be proud of them.
We don't really like to hear the word humility, because it must mean something negative. It's not used in society at all, because the goal there is to raise yourself higher and higher, you are the thing, you deserve it. But the Bible shifts the focus from "you" to God. Your life will be happy and blessed if you do not lift yourself up, but God.
In the coming weeks we will begin our study of Mark's Gospel. We will go verse by verse. The aim is not to go into deep theological discussions, but simply to read the Word, listening to what God wants to say to you and me today. A few thoughts will help bring this closer to you.
